News Release: 3rd FestPac Workshop

Connect Me * Create Me* Promote Me Series

A workshop to create a Marianas-centric CHamoru Seafaring Lexicon and awaken and connect to Chamorro ancestral heritage is set for July 26 and 27. This workshop is the third in a set of four being offered by Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities with funding from the Guam Visitors Bureau and support from Guam Preservation Trust and Guampedia. The workshop is being offered to keep Guam artists current with plans for the Festival of the Pacific scheduled for 2016 on Guam, and improve their knowledge on how they can better prepare
their works for a professional display.!

Workshop Schedule

Day 1: Saturday July 26, GCC Multipurpose Auditorium

8:30 am - Registration

9 am - Historical Overview, Dr. Lawrence Cunningham. Review of Chamorro seafaring lexicon developed in 2009

Noon - Lunch Break and screening of seafaring documentary.

1 pm -
The Keeper of the Secret, Adriane Cruz
Sakman Story, Mario Borja
500 Sails Project, Pete Perez
Micronesian Story, Lino Olopai

4:30 pm – Open Discussion and Wrap Up


Day 2: Sunday, July 27, Latte of Freedom, Adelup

1 pm – Recap of Day 1 and consensus of the lexicon, New terms for discussion, Presentation: Points of Sail by Mario Borja
